Working Faster and Smarter with GeoMax Survey Technology
When Craig Madsen from Bay Surveying was looking to upgrade his survey technology, he did what most people do, researched online and asked other surveyors for recommendations. Craig had decided that Bay Surveying needed to upgrade as the business had grown and they needed new solutions to support the uptake of work. The business specialises in boundary location and building setout work, in a typical week they could be working across multiple small-medium size set-out jobs such as marking boundaries, houses and services.

The BuildMax team listened to Craig’s requirements and the type of work underway and recommended a solution ideal for one-person operation that would enable jobs to be completed faster with high accuracy. The solution comprised of the GeoMax Zoom90 Total Station, Zenith 15 GNSS and X-Pad software.
Craig was impressed by the solution’s accuracy, but he also needed something for other tasks such as data capture where pin-point accuracy was required. So we introduced the X-Pole solution which combines the advantages of the Total Station with the GNSS Receiver which allows a toggle between both measurement modes, very handy in situations where points cannot be easily measured with TPS only due to limited prism visibility.
This turned out to be the perfect solution for Craig, who immediately saw the benefits and decided to purchase the combined solution as demonstrated.

The new equipment has made a dramatic difference to the business, reducing time spent on long setups and essentially allowing them to complete more jobs in a week whilst minimising the risk of human error at the same time.
Craig believes the GeoMax Zenith15, Zoom90 with X-Pole has so far been the most cost effective solution for the type surveying he does.
